Hook and eye clasps fasten clothing together based upon the design of the garment. Traditionally, many types of women’s clothing, such as brassieres, dress pants, skirts and dresses use hook and eye clasps. The clasp itself consists of a hook attached to one side of the garment and an eye attached to the other side. Both pieces consist of flattened wire formed into the appropriate shape. The hook side fits into the eye side, allowing for a simple and discreet way of fastening articles of clothing.
